Looking for a drink, I entered a cigar bar. It gives me the inspiration to portray the lambda customer, in this place where men (no woman around) were smoking cigars and pipes, dressed with business attire in a dark room with Jazz playing in background. Such a cliché from a time where clubs and bars were attributes of social status, before slowly fading into joints. I thought abstract cubism was one possible way to capture the mood of the place and the essence of this -told to be harmful- activity. Deconstructing the current out-of-the-health-conscious-paradigm scene, I layered the canvas with home made sodium bicarbonate texture and painted it with acrylic colours.
